I am a baby really in the static world! Using my dads plot/static as he doesn't use it that much these days. I wanted to put a new shed for him just on the edge of his plot. So I knocked down the tatty old one, removed the rubbish and bought a new one (tidy looking thing) from a DIY store. The site owner has said I am not allowed to put a plastic shed it has to be metal and has to be from a certain company and bought through the park. Is this common?? I spoke to the company concerned (who make the sheds) and they said it is very common and happens on most large parks ... Is it really?

New plastics sheds and storage boxes aren't allowed on ours. They have to be metal but don't have to be bought ( just approved of) through the site.

Same with ours, no plastic, and the metal ones are about £400. I could build a garage for that price -rip off!

we are on a park resorts site and they don't allow plastic sheds, although many owners still have them but have been asked to remove them. we paid £500 for ours because we could only buy through park, a complete rip off and money spinner but we really needed a shed xx

Why does anyone do it then, really? I do believe they'd charge for the air breathed on the sites if they could!! Lets get some legislation sorted out rather than sit moaning !!
I cant have a shed cos I havent got a verandah!!! So sheds unsightly??? Well hey, I've seen ghastlier sights -- but there again, the type who also spend money. So they're ok then! Hahahha -- only kidding

On our site plastic sheds and plastic storage boxes are not allowed, we were told they are fire a hazard. We have decking which is plastic but thats okay. Also if you buy a van on site and it has a wooden decking that is ok but if you buy a van privately and it has wooden decking it has to come down. Doesn't make sense to me.

Our site only allowed metal shed and only through an approved source they only allow certain trademen onto the site. The good thing is that they have someone who sells 6 x 4 at £165 which seems pretty reasonable compared to others, but get this the flagstones are £4 each plus £5 per flag if you have them to lay them for the shed base fortunately so long as they are 2 x 2 you can bring your own flags.

On our site there are plastic and metal storage boxes but no sheds of either type as far as i know. Its a pity really as i could stick the mother in law in there when she stays with us.Ive tried sticking her in the storage box at the rear of the van but her legs stick out,and site rules say that lids must be fastened at all times.

The site that we are on at the moment, (and just about to leave !), told me that they dont allow plastic bunkers or sheds any more as the Fire Service say its against the rules. If we wished to purchase a metal shed or bunker, it MUST be purchased from them. Two points of order here - Firstly, what the site owners didnt know was that in my line of work, I work very closely with the Fire Service and when I mentioned this to them they said that the owners were taking the p... big style as there wasnt any legislation in place as such at the present time. I firmly believe that by stating that you MUST purchase from them, that they are breaking the law as I cannot see them being able to enforce such a thing. Our new site rules state that we are allowed one shed or bunker, 6 x 4 dimentions, which must be of PLASTIC construction. So, there you go !!!!
Cheers.

Looks like I will have to give in and buy a metal one then. I have phoned the company who supply the sheds this morning - they had a word with the park for me and the park have let me buy one direct from the manufacturing company :O) SO that's saved me about £100 (the parks mark up!!). Thats a great result!! Perhaps worth trying with other parks?? You don't get if you don't ask.
THe shed people are called asgard the contact number is on their website www.asgardsss.co.uk (http://www.asgardsss.co.uk) they seem to supply most of the big parks. I am chuffed to bits, It has made my weekend! Got to wait three weeks for it to be delivered though :O( Off to the pub now with the money I have saved!
