View Full Version : Hot water systems

Hello,
I have recently moved into a static caravan - I have never lived in one before and winter is approaching fast!
I have noticed there are various problems particularly with the hot water systems. I have a gas-based system using the big red bottles but I cannot get my hot water for the shower above about 10 degrees c, which when you've just gotten up in the morning to find ice on the insides of the windows, isn't very enticing.
The boiler seems to work okay and I cannot smell any gas when I'm using it. But there are two settings and if I put it on the top setting, it fires up for about 3 minutes at a good temperature and then it cuts off and the shower goes stone cold!! But leaving it on the lowest of the two settings solves this problem but the temperature never gets to a comfortable one.
I have a Morco Co-Plus 6 litre boiler and was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and if they know how to fix the problem without spending too much money?? Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes - what's wrong with that??
Hi Mike,
Welcome to the forum.
It’s quite unheard of (especially on this forum) of people living in static caravan all year round as I assume you are.
Best of luck with your boiler, if it was me I’d be having a gas check carried out asap by a Corgi registered person and taking it from there. A little expense could be well worth it.

Hi Mike welcome to the forum.
I'm not much good with the technical side of things to be honest but this is the right place to find stuf out.

I looked high and low on the internet for static-caravan related websites/resources - they mostly all cater for the holiday tourer type caravans. So I was surprised when I stumbled upon this website and then this gem of a forum. But now I'm a little disappointed because obviously none of you are in the caravaning business for the same reasons as me.
I kind of thought there'd be loads of people out there just like me and that there'd be lots of tips on how to do DIY on caravans, etc. But there isn't and it's annoying!
If I were to say to you that I know a doctor who lives in a caravan all year round would you believe me?

I would!
I have live in static caravans on and off for around 5 years
Me too!
I know someone who lives in a static caravan for 8 months of the year and they’ve added ornaments, scatter cushions, house plants and other person effects to make it feel very homely.
It’s frustrating there aren’t any magazines available for static caravan owners, as you mentioned there seems to be plenty for motorhome/tourer owners so it don‘t seem fair!!

uk campsite is quite a good forum, am trying to get a static section on that as we used it a lot when we had a tourer.
Like you we have been unsuccessful at finding magazines about statics, there were lots for our tourer.
There are a couple of other static forums that we have found, and some members here seem to be members on those too. However I don't know whether the people running this forum would appreciate someone directing people to other forums,,,,
We’ll have to get a good team together and publish a static caravan magazine and make a fortune!!
I wonder if those other forums are as action-packed as this one!!!!! ;)

I would off course prefer it if you didn't but its not fire squad punishable (yet)

May not work to well at the moment but I agree a static caravan magazine is needed.
I know there was talk of one been done for owners of caravans on parks on the Yorkshire coast but I'm not sure what happened wih that.
How much action do you need?;):D
You can never have too much action!!! ;)
It would be nice to see more posts don‘t you think?
In my view a good majority of people seem to register post one message and are never seen here again!

Without de-railing the thread too much,
With all forums you get 3 types of people those who like to read threads, those who find the site ask a question and then have no further use for it and those who join and become long time members.
We are getting plenty of 1 and 2 but not enough of 3, which is the norm for all forums.
We are only a new forum and have only been online fully since the summer, so where not doing to bad.

I agree Keira, there is a lot of useful info on here but it would be nice to see more feedback :D
Mike,
You possibly stated the boiler model slightly wrong - is it a Morco *Eco*-Plus boiler? If you Google this, you find this web page ...
<http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4230&st=0&p=55622&#entry55622>
... on about the same boiler. The second posting on that webpage has contact details for the manufacturer - so might be worth a call to see if it is a known problem and something you can adjust yourself. The troubleshooting guide also mention the type of gas you should be using - you *are* using propane rather than butane?
Hope this might be some help. Stay safe.
Stuart.
