Hi All

I am very new to all this and my experience is limited to using my parents old caravan in Abergele.

Although old they did refurbish it and fitted stand alone furniture the inside would rival some i have seen for 20k. However its the exterior which is suffering and some damp patches are appearing. Time to replace....

So I am tasked with sourcing a new one (used hopefully).

They want a 3 bedroom model because of grandchildren and they dont want the hassle of putting sofas away every morning as they are knocking on a bit.

They have a new site in mind which is open longer and therefore due to this and age would require double glazing and central heating.

They do not have a huge amount of money maybe mid to high teens.

I am confused as to why the dealers dont have a great deal of used vans on their websites ie lloyds, Roy Kellet. Whenever you drive past they seem to have hundreds. I think new is out because everything is extra and will not get what they want for the money.

With this in mind could anyone recommend a particular make and model which might suit their needs that isnt to old.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Stryder and welcome to gostatic.
There are hundreds of different vans out there so i think you might get a myriad of answers to this one!
Try Tony Peake in Towyn. He seems pretty fair with his used van prices and more importantly has links to sites who allow his vans on.
Remember,if you are moving to a bigger commercial 10.5 month site like Winkups or Golden Sands then they all have an age limit policy on your van so i would by almost new if funds allow. It sounds like the one you're on is pretty lenient.
I suppose you have already done this, but check that your desired site allow you to bring on your own van as some don't,some do and some do but will penalise you heavily each year with extra ground rent for not buying from them!Good luck with your search.

Good morning Stryder, and welcome to the forum.
Whilst you wait for replies to your question, take a look in the different sections on the forum in the search box regarding buying a static, there's been loads of threads on here, so I'm sure you'll pick up lots of tips.
Site first, which you have in mind, site fees, caravan... choose manufacturer, lounge, kitchen layout, number of bedrooms etc, and of course whether you want one with DG and or CH.
You will probably buy a newer one without the latter, but it just depends on your requirements.
Good luck with your search, keep posting, and if you have any questions, we're all here for each other;)

Glad they have found one.:D
Where did they settle for in the end.
As for insurance we settled for JLT and had no trouble with our frost claim.:)
The debate about van prices is where they are sited etc.etc.and insurance is another whether you go with sites insurance etc.and insurance would also depend on whether NEW for OLD basis.

I would have loved them to go deeper into Wales, nearer Snowdon but they didnt want to extend their driving time unfortunately.

Theyve found a farm near Abergele very reasonable fees around £1600 pa i think.

As for price they found some idiot who added to their budget.......

Thanks for all the help
