Im thinking of buying a brand new caravan as I have been offered very good prices but im a bit of a caravan virgin, am I right in saying the Willerby is a better make? the two options I have are Willerby Westmoreland 35x12 3 bed or Carnaby Melrose 34x12 3 bed as I need the 3 bedrooms, does anyone know anything about these caravans? any advice would be greatly appreciated, also I will only be using the caravan from April to end Oct, is double glazing and central heating a neccessity, they both have double glazing as standard but central heating is more? thanks

In my opinion Carnaby Caravans are better finished off than Willerby, Willerby are a much larger company though (I think).
Look at the finish round the skirting boards and round the top (where the wall meets the roof), the thickness and sturdiness of the interior walls, check how the outside is finished off.
I say all this because I've had Willerbys in the past, the last one being a Lyndhurst and I don't think the workmanship is very good, the PVC door actually had fine cracks I can only think it was the sun that caused it. It was only 5 years old and only owned by us from new.
We tend to pick our vans for the layout, hence why we've never owned a Carnaby, because the ones we've like had freestanding sofas and we don't like them.
I'd definitely recommend Double Glazing but you can get oil fired radiators that work just as well as Central Heating. At least the Double Glazing stops condensation.
Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Hi and welcome the forum. Our first van was a Willerby, bought at 2yrs old, kept for 13ys with no problems. When upgrading we looked at every make & model you could think of. We had a list of things we wanted, DG, ensuite, square kitchen as opposed to galley style, fridge/freezer and settled on The Manor from Surf Bay Leisure in Bridport, They buy 20 chassis a year from Willerby and do them out to their own spec, at the end of the day, it's down to personal choice. We found others bland and with out the fine details, door handles etc.

i have owned both, the carnaby was much older but so well put together, it was 12 years old when i brought it and i think it is still on the site where i had it 12 years on and still looking good, i also had a willerby Bermuda which was a 2004 model, high spec and very nice but i doubt the build quality is as good, i sold it 4 years ago and is now looking very tried.
I think the Carnabys are probably better built and finished.

I think you can tell when you look round a Carnaby that they are well put together.
My favourite are Pembertons but the model we wanted was too long for our particular pitch.
To me the Willerbys are nice vans but look and feel more 'mass produced'.

It has to be Carnaby.
I am a bit bias. They have good customer service.
