Hi I have been looking at this forum for months to get info about buying a static. It has been so useful, and following all your advice on Monday we found a site and a riverside plot, then on Wednesday we found our caravan, a Swift Moselle. I can't remember the last time I was this excited! We should have it on site and all connected at end August and I can't wait. Thanks to you all for the helpful info, as a first time static owner it gave us all the info we needed to be brave and take the plunge. Will let you know when we have the keys.

We have a lakeside plot and I love waking up to the water every day. It changes all the time. Do check the small print on your insurance. We found a couple of the cheaper ones were iffy about flood damage if you were within a distance of water even though our site hasn't flooded in memory.

Thanks to you all for the warm welcome. Will be sure to post pics as soon as we get it. OMG this is going to be the longest month EVER! Thanks Maddy for advice about insurance, have been told the river has never flooded in living memory, and it is very shallow. Wide but looks like a babbling brook. I suppose there's always a first time, so we will take your advice and be sure to check the small print very carefully.

It is scary isn't...........the biggest expense since we bought our house! But I know we will get loads of use from it. Our two grown up kids and their spouses are planning to be there as often as their jobs allow them to, so we'll probably have to fight them for it. At the moment I feel like I don't want anyone else in it cus I'm so protective of it. i know it's mad but it's like my new baby. I am off shopping in a minute to start buying things on my mile long list!

Be back soon.

Thanks Val, we are going to Mid Wales, near to Llanfair Caereinion. We looked at quite a few sites but this one said "come to me" as we drove on! Even my OH loved it and he didn't want a static a year ago.

Only heard from site owner this morning van on site (was delivered on Tuesday) and needs a few more small checks to be done, will be ready later today. We have decided to go tomorrow first thing rather than rush today. Daughter is coming with us, she's almost as excited as me. Unfortunately son-in-law has to work, and our son and daughter-in-law are off to V festival, so they have better things to do. (But they will be down there next weekend I'm sure). I think we will have to make a few trips with all the shopping. Let you know how it goes and will get some photos on as soon as I can.
