Hi all,
We have just bought our static last year, we are on Amble Links up in Northumberland......
My question is regarding drain downs...... I have just paid 50 pound to get mine done...... People tell me it is easy to do yourself, (i dont have central heating).....
Could someone please give me a guide of how to do a drain down.....
And if you dont do your own how much do you pay for yours?????
Kind regards

turn water off and undo drain taps, open all your taps inside and unscrew the screw in bottom of boiler
but to be honest as long as you turn water off and open taps in side u should be ok, we use our caravan every weekend all year round, and we have always been ok, plus my friend doesnt even turn his water off

Is it really that simple???
Do you not use anti freeze or anything like that, and what about starting it back up, do i just do the opposite, bearing in ming our site is shut down in december and january.......
Kind regards
It really is that simple as we always do our Haven caravan ourselves but make sure you put anti-freeze in the toilet!

Hi there we only charge a one off payment of £37.50 for a drain down and reconnection that includes the anti freeze. The best way to do it yourself is to turn off and disconnect the main water pipe open the taps in all rooms and remove the drain plaugs from the bottom of van and the bung out of the bottom of the water heater and blow though with a length of hose. 187 vans drain down this year and to date no leaks or damage to fittings found upon reconnection.
If you are not sure it is best to employ a professional as if there is any problems then they are responsible for repairs and not you, unless you ask for a drain down after the first frost of the year.
