Hi all,
I am at the moment visiting a few sites in and around the Scottish Borders, Dunfries & Galloway, Berwick area, with a view to buying a new, or newish static.
I would like to hear from any owners of static's from site's similar to where i have aforementioned, with any tips or reccommendations where to look. We hope to find a site, that is quiet, pet friendly, (small dog) and near to small town or village.
Thanks. (we are from Argyll & Bute)

Hello Jimmy
I have a van at a little site at Slaggyford (4 miles from Alston) it is absolutley tranquil it has a lake on one side and the Tyne running past on the other, most of the vans have trees around them making it very peacefull to sit and watch all the different birds that are around. the lake is full of ducks that appear at your van as soon as you open a door looking for bread. It has free fishing for trout and salmon and is pet friendly. it is open 11 mths only closed in Feb. Haltwhistle, Carlisle, Brampton are all near. Most of the vans have views over the river and fells or over the lake. If you are looking for fantastic countryside and somewhere to chill out and have a few beers relaxing I cannot think of anywhere else that is better. I cannot wait for fridays to get away upto the van so me and the wife can relax do nothing. There is only about 50 vans on the site, well worth a look as it is not to far from Scotland either.
hope this helps, if you want some photos send me a message and I will try to send some to your email address, (I am not very good at sending photos but will give it a try).
cheers John.

There are many sites on the East coast of the Scottish Borders.

East Lothian is one of the sunniest areas in Scotland.:)

Hi Hovis
I agree with you it can be a very sunny area, i recently visited Blackadder in Greenlaw, and a wee bit further away, Kippford, both were very good, Kippford is very scenic and on the Solway firth, do you know any of them ? whats your site like.

We really enjoy where we are except for the hills. (Cyclists)

I don't think I would ever fully recommend a site. I think is has to be an individuals choice. But in the area I'm in, I would give Belhaven a second look for it's location

To be honest I wouldn't choose Greenlaw because of it's isolated location and there is a lot more hills - some 12%

I don't know the other mentioned sites.

But keep looking that's part of the fun.

Hi, I have stayed in Brighouse Bay, and there were quite a few sites around Kirkcudbright, the scenery and villages (with their gorgeous little specialist shops) were beautiful, and the people very friendly, lots of traditional stuff going on in summer months...:)

We're on Anwoth Caravan Park which is in Gatehouse of Fleet. It is a small site with only 4 caravans which are letting vans which the site lets out. The rest are all privately owned. There is a small green for tourers. It is a very quiet site which is dog friendly(we have one). There are only laundry facilities and a telephone box on site. You just walk out the gates and you have the facilities of Gatehouse on your doorstep. There are many lovely walks for you and your wee dog on your doorstep too. The statics on site are usually quite reasonably priced when they come up for sale.

Hi Jimmy,

I don't know if you have committed to buying your static caravan yet. I have just joined the forum here.

We are a family of four and have three small dogs. We live close to the Scottish Borders and looked at every alternative to suit our every need. Our choice eventually was Berwick Holiday Park. It has everything a family and dog owner could ever wish for.

I can help you to save at least £1000 off the cost of a new or newish static caravan at the Berwick Park.

Just give me a call on 07765920998, if you'd like any further information.
