It is looking like we are never going to sell our lovely caravan on the site it is on as the site fees are so over-priced. Can anyone tell me what is entailed in having the van transported elsewhere. Obviously, I know it needs disconnecting. Do you have to remove everything out of it? Is there anything I should be aware of? Has anyone had their caravan re-sited. Thanks

Port Carlisle, near us, are offering to pay the costs for your van to be transported to their site. Sorry I don't know what is involved doing it yourselves but someone will be able to advise you.

to get your van moved you will have to pay the site to disconnect it for you and move it to a suitable place to be picked up, as for eveything in it,take all the big items out,we wrapped all the small item such as pots/pans etc in quilts and laid them on the floor, tape all cupboard doors shut and that should be enough for transporting it. if you have the space then you can completelt empty it which is a good excuse for a clear out lol. you can store stuff under the seating aswel if you have that type of seating in your van. check with your site what they will charge for disconection. our site charges £500 plus vat

We have been told that disconnection at our site is £240. What do you do with big items like fridge freezer and cooker?

Seems reasonable ,as the other people could get a free tow on to another site.

Hi All,
we have been going through this process ourselves.
No need to empty, just move big things to either the floor or the small bedroom.
Our site rips you off @ £650 + vat (780), I think cash in his back pocket.
New sites that do "Pull Ons" are very eager to get you so are very helpful, our only problem was our old site's manager. He couldn't be more awkward if he tried. But generally speaking, most moves are done professionally so no hassle mas such, Good Luck.

I fell in love with the site where my caravan is located in Scotland but due to my circumstances, you see I live in Ontario, Canada and I know in time I will regret having to pay site fees etc., and only managing over a couple of times a year. When I purchased just this passed May 2011, I was thinking in terms of possibly retiring there for a few months of the year in Scotland and then back to Canada but realistically, not sure if that will still happen being able to spend a few months. Then, I was thinking long term of the next few years and if to save money for rent etc., I could move van to a site which would allow me to rent since where I am now, they do not entertain it since it's a really small site. How would I go about finding out of another site in Scotland or even Lancs/Yorkshire/Cumbria where I could use as a rental and still be able to spend some time there myself off season. My van is not a newbie but still in good shape with CH and DG. Would anyone have any suggestions? I know I would have to pay my park disconnection fee then transportation fee unless another park would do it for free! Anyone got any suggestions?

My first thing on the list would be to star emailing sites in your chosen areas. That's the trouble with sites that don't allow subletting. If you can't get to use your van then nobody else can either. There's a thread on here somewhere about sites that allow bring ons.Check back regularily on this thread as members are adding sites as they discover them
