Hi all, just wondering if any one could give me some advice on heating my van?

As I will be privately sub-letting, i was thinking of getting some oil filled radiators rather than using the electric fan heaters left in the van.I've heard that they are cheaper to run.Any advice on the type(i was looking at some mini 700kwh ones) due to space but not sure if they will be warm enough for the bedrooms. There is a gas fire in the lounge,so i'm not too bothered for in there.

Any advice would be gratefully recieved, thanks Sarah

Hi sarah we used an oil filled heater in our caravan it was ok, but took ages to warm the place up maybe it was because the heater was only £25. Someone suggested a halogen heater instead so we borrowed someones to try and it was brilliant, instant heat!! We have now purchased one from argos after reading all the reviews ( they all mentioned how bright the glow is when they are on, and they were right! but it saves on lighting) for £35, definately worth the money.:)

How economical is a halogen heater to run? We have gas blown air heating and it costs a fortune in the winter but we don't find the oil filled radiator heats the van enough and are looking for other alternatives for this winter.

Hi, not sure how much it costs to run halogen heaters but now we have had, and been using them for 3 months we are definately much warmer a lot quicker!! We have tried electric panel heaters and oil filled radiators but they take far too long to warm up let alone heat a caravan. Most people on our site have halogen heaters and I havnt heard anyone moan at all about much electric its costing.

we find the oil filled radiators very good though I must admit that we use the gas fire to heat the living area quickly at night. With the radiators it is true that you more or less need to leave them on all the time to get a real benefit

We use a halogen heater in the living room part as this throws quite a lot of heat out and 2 oil filled rads , one in each bedroom , we usually put these on before we go out or about an hour or so before we go to bed to warm the room up this has been more than enough even at the back end of november

We use "Goldair" thermostatically controlled electric heaters one in each room, we find them excellent and quite cheap to run.

We had oil filled heaters in all the bedrooms and they worked well.
