Hi,
We have recently purchased a sited 1990 Atlas applause as a new starters to the static scene, however after the recent bad weather we have noticed some stains appearing on the ceilings in the corner of rooms which look like water marks rather than mould, have had a look on the roof and it appears to be ok, whilst I was up there i took the opportunity to clean the gutters as they were full of leaves.
My question is where should I be looking externally for these leaks and what products are available for re-sealing etc also how do you remove these stains ?
Thanks in advance
Paul

it may just be condensation, just keep your eye on it.
condensation goes to the coldest parts of the caravan which are the corners etc

Thank you for your reply Darren, do you know of any products that remove these stains or will they need sealing with unibond and the whole ceiling painted ?
Cheers

If the gutters were full there's a good chance it caused water ingress. Keep your gutters clean and it may not happen again, if it does get a caravan engineer to flashband the roof and maybe re-seal the corner caps. When the ceiling dries out it shouldn't be too noticeable.

On the side that the stains are on it has already been flashbanded the full lenght of the caravan, it seems to have been done quite well and shows no sign of lifting anywhere, lets just hope cleaning the gutters has done the trick.

Sounds like a rough problem. Let us know how it works out for you.

I know this is an old thread but after the cleaning of the gutters we have had a full season without any leaks, and we have had some terrible weather with some really heavy rain, we last visited the caravan mid November to do a few odd jobs and everything was fine, anyway we decided to go to the van for New years eve / day and noticed a wet / damp patch in the main bedroom, it is about 18 ins from the rear of the van and is where the wall meets the ceiling, the patch extends about three ins into the ceiling with what looks like a nasty brown staining.
On the outside of the van the gutters were clean and free of any obstruction and the patch is at least 6 - 7 ins from the join in the roof sheets, as a precaution though I have put a bead of Carafax IDL99 on the roof to gutter / wall joint.
Other than we had had some quite heavy snow (Powys) and wonder if this has caused the problem as I cant seem to find a reason for this leak as everything looks fine.
Any ideas anyone ?
