My brother and I with our respective families bought a static, having only ever spent one night inside a caravan. This was a spontaneous decision and I was wondering whether someone could give me a little advice.

Is there a list of do's and don'ts avaiable? (excluding dont buy on a whim, without doing research first)

The caravan is single glazed. Are we likely to experience condensation? and if so what can we do to minimise it?

How often should you paint the chasis?

Thanks

hi
1st -welcome to the forum,
dos and donts,
end of season, drain down the water and boiler,
start of season get water back on, fire, cooker and boiler serviced
chasis- if it looks ok, leave it, if its been greased leave it, but if it looks rusty, get it scraped off and paint it ,best to paint and not grease incase you need to get under the van for any reason you want get covered in grease.
condensation matter- yes you will get condensation ,alot of it too , this is due to it been single glazed plus having a metal frame, best way of minmising it is to double glaze the caravan this 9/10 times does away totally with condensation also keeping the van dryer, warmer and safer.
all the best

end of season, drain down the water and boiler,

That is so important. You would be amazed how many people ring up for a claim form when they go back to their caravan at the start of the season and find their pipes burst or their boiler cracked. Most insurers expect you to take reasonable care and draining down is included in that.

Good luck
