Just wondered if anyone else on here were car boot fans like us?

we go whenever we can and although we only bought our van a month ago we have pretty much fully kitted it out from boot sales.

Our best buy has to be a huge rug which covers the whole lounge area protecting the carpet from dogs! which matches perfectly for £10!

As well as all the usual bits and bobs like, throws, cultery, new duvet sets still in packets, cushions, saucepans, even a tv video combi this week for £5 and a dvd player for £2 even had a free dvd left in it!

we have saved a fortune its amazing the amount of stuff that people get rid of thats brand new! :D

We love car boots we spend our Sunday mornings @ our local one. We get the keys for our caravan this Saturday and will be looking out for boot sales in the area so if anyone knows of any around Malton & Pickering area even Scarborough please let us know.

You can certainly get some bargains at car boots, we bought all our ornaments from car boots, they where literally only pence so it doesn’t matter to much if guests are clumsy with them!

Thats what I was thinking as I kitted it all out. Saves stress about being too precious about stuff when you know it cost peanuts. If something spills on my rug I won't be thrilled but I wont be hysterical like I would if it cost me £200 lol.

Bit like the tv really I know tv/video combis are old hat now but its silver and doesn't look too old fashioned but we have a low unit to put it on and if I spend a few hundred pounds on a lovely lcd tv that gets knocked over by kids or dogs I would be gutted, this way I won't worry :)

wasn't sure about subletting but since we have decided we need to just to cover the costs I was worried it would cost a fortune but if you have the patience to look for bargains and get up early on a (usually) Sunday morning it could save you a bundle! :)

The curtains in our new to us caravan were very faded with the sun. I bought two pairs of cream lined curtains at a boot sale, cut them to size, actually made 7 pairs in total, used the original tie backs(roses) and they look great all for £10. Oh yes I got four matching cushion covers too. Don't you get a buzz from doing this? I collected cottage tea pots at the boot sales too, and have them on the shelves where the curtain pelmets are. I got 4 for £2 and the others were expensive at £1.50 each, lol!!! It becomes a sort of mission - this week, I'm looking for the old fashioned chair backs and arm covers (just to tone down the upholstery which is covered with roses, roses, and more roses. Aside from recovering, which is too expensive, anyone got any ideas how I could make these roses wilt and die!!!! Don't say throws, as these do my head in, as they look like rags after falling down the backs and being sat on.

you sound just like us lol its funny how when you ask a price and they say £2 you are like mmm bit dear when anywhere else it would only buy you the bag to put it in, they make you very tight with your money anything over a pound is a lot lol :D

My daughter collects me to you bears and pays about a £1 each they are around £20 each in the shops when she gets bored of them I'll just ebay them and she can enjoy the proceeds so its a win win situation!! I collect the just the right shoe ornaments and have an impressive collection all from the boot sale its a def buzz when you get a bargain.

I have found all the cushions and throws in our van for 50p-£1 I use the throws to cover our sofas as I dont want the dogs on to ruin the covers and I find if you use the fleecy type ones and tuck them round the seat cushions they dont move. The loose ones would do my head in too as they look a mess as soon as you sit down but give the fleecy ones a shot they are quite inexpensive and can be washed and dried quickly and easily.
