This is the general discussion section. Leave the caravaning to the other sections n let everyone know what you do other than own a caravan.
I, (stu), play the guitar and have a 7 string guitar. I am not in a band because my day job can be demanding. I am an offshore telecomms engineer by day, (and weekend and sometimes night!). I also enjoy karate and hope to put in for my first grade end of next week with my children. Also, I hope to run the Marathon in April 2010 and should find out if I have a place soon. I am studying towards my HNC in electrical and electronic engineering through distance learning in my diminished spare time!
My wife, er, I dunno, what do ya do wifey? lol. Better leave it to Karen to say in another post, she makes it sound better.

My two main pashions are Leeds United and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats rubgy league team, I also enjoy travelling. I've been to most northern and western european countries, some in the east as well as North America and Africa.
What about you?

Wow Darren and I thought you were a decent bloke (Lol). I support Huddersfield Giants and play cricket for Almondbury in the Huddersfield Cricket League. Not as adventurous as you, limited to the Med for our travelling - just a sun worshipper

That sounds great! Aside from my interests I have been a few places I guess. I went to Iraq in 2003 for the RAF. On an american air base called Tillil. I have been to a couple of european countries too. The netherlands, France, Belgium this year, Wales and scotland. I participated in the Tall ships race 1995 and sailed from Edinburgh to Bremen, Germany. That was ace. I enjoy travelling, my work may make more of it necessary.

I went to uni in Hudds a few years back and even though I ended up with a free ticket to just about every game I couldn't bring myself to go ;) except for the Wakey games.
I can't sit still for more than 5 minutes so a beach holiday is no good for me, much prefer a big city.

Wow, I'd love to do something like that but been partially sighted I would probably have been a danger to every one.

Well I'm afraid I don't do football and I certainly don't do cricket! typical girly I suppose I love to shop and all things shoes and bags! Love my dogs we have 2, a cocker spaniel and a Lhasa Apso they are my babies now my daughter is all grown up, shes 15 going on 25!! Suppose they are one of the main reasons we bought our van so we can holiday whenever we want and they get to come too :)
I love reading I used to work for Waterstones and it gave me a passion for books we have way too many and I am writing my own but stuck on chapter 22 really must get back into it just been too busy over the summer
Not been on Hols this year as we bought the caravan, Well we did go to Windermere for 3 nights if that counts. Our favourite place in the World is Budapest been about 5 times and always look forward to going back :D

My partner loves leading as well, she likes clive custler and terry practhet amongst others. Again, my eyes make it difficult to read most books.
Ive been to Budapest once and would certaintly go back. Only porbably is the giant Tesco by the side of the bridge, reminds you of been at home.

You should try the talking books Darren nowadays pretty much all the top titles are released in this format Waterstones has thousands but best place is Ebay you can pick them up really reasonable. I like chick lit and some autobiographies and the Gregory Maguire books he wrote Wicked and some others based on fairy tales if your partner likes Terry Pratchett she would love those.
We are in Budapest last year and honestly dont remember the big Tescos lol not like me to miss a shop!!
Forgot to say I also love my Nintendo DSI which is taking pref over the reading at the moment me and my OH are addicted to Rummikub at the mo it used to be scrabble but I beat him mostly

I support Grimsby Town(for my sins!). My wife and I run a caravan park. We also have properties in Florida(Naples) which we rent out. This also means we can use them ourselves! Jane and the ma-in-law left today and i'll finish the rest of the season. Next month i'll head out myself for 7 weeks, not all holiday though as there are contracts to renew, maintenance etc, however I will be playing the odd game of golf!
I spend 3 weeks out there by myself just before christmas and I like to drive off for a few days, usually Savannah & Charleston where I can indulge in my real passion, food. I like to go to fine restaurants and experience top class dining. I also cook every meal at home as Jane can't cook to save her life!.
It all sounds great, and it is, but I don't take a day off from 1st March until 31st October so I kind of feel I earn it.
Running a caravan park is very rewarding but you have to put in the hours and be there for your customers. The best parks are usually the ones where the owners are actively running them and are available at any time for their owners. That's why I put so much time in, and also why some of our customers have owned vans on the park since the 60's.

7 weeks in Florida :D lucky man lol I love living in Scotland and don't think I would never go back down South to live but coming from Bournemouth I do miss the warmer weather we are lucky we dont get much rain on the East coast but the thought of the snow and colder weather for the next 6 months doesn't thrill me so Florida sounds like heaven :D

Rubbish! I didnt get a place in the marathon next year. I suppose things are pretty busy anyways so it saves taking a huge chunk of time to train. Obviously I dont just want to train for the marathon, but also as a life habbit, I can do it at a more leisurely pace now though.

sorry to hear that must be disappointing never mind you've got a whole year to get prepared for next year just think how much easier will be ;)
