one owner told me that things are really going down hill at golden sands ?
a women told me she had been there for yrs but the last 3 yrs have been the worst she has seen them ? the thing is when we had our tourer i used to like going to golden sands have things really hit rock bottom ?
what a shame for the site that people are moving there vans?

Unfortunately it is i'm afraid. I've been on it since April 2007 and it's got worse every year. All they want is the £9.50 Sun specials and let out the vans so cheaply you can imagine what they attract. As long as money is being spent in the bars that's all they care about. When you are looking to purchase a van and become an owner they are all over you like a cheap coat, promise you the earth then deny it.
I've had enough of them and am removing my van this winter.
I refuse to line their pockets any more:mad:

Don't want to offend any owners on Golden Sands, but this was our experience of the park.

We looked at Golden Sands before choosing to buy at Thorpe Park instead - we thought the pitches were nicer in Thorpe park to start with - better laid out, most with parking spaces.( we stayed in Golden sands once and had a view of the back of the complex).

On the plus side when we stayed the entertainment was very good, - Timmy Mallet - Yay!! and some CBBC presenter that we didn't recoginise but our children knew!

The beach was lovely, and the children loved the land train. We walked down into Mablethorpe and lots of things were closed - it was early in the season, and during school time, but we were a bit disappointed as we expected a few more attractions to be open.

We found it tricky to get up to the upstairs area in the bar with the pram, in the lift - there was a bit of confusion over whether it was for disabled use only or whether we could use it.

When we were looking at vans later in the season, we found the place generally dirty - hand rails were sticky, carpets were filthy and stuck down with tape, and the toilets in the main showbar were disgusting and full of flies, with broken seats - so bad that I walked in and changed my mind walking straight back out again. The children's soft play area was great, but again dirty and sticky, and the toilets smelt horrible. The children's area in the bar was similar with sticky surfaces.

The vans seemed to be cheaper, although we were shown one with mouldy curtains and cushions. - Not a good sales pitch although the guy tried to talk his way out if it!

On the whole based on our experience we decided it wasn't for us, and although the vans an pitch prices seemed to be a bit more expensive at Thorpe Park we felt that it suited us better.
