Hiya..
I am new to this site and this is my first post...
I have been thinking of buying a static for a long time now.. at the moment we use a tourer.. Anyway I have made an appointment for this sunday tretyo visit Camarthan Bay to view some vans..
The ground rent is pretty high and I am wondering how easy is it to let out your vans?? For those of you who do let your vans, do you sometimes struggle to find people to let to with some advertising...

Hi first bit of advice i wish i was given would be to not to rush into things most caravans site are closing/closed down for the season now so check a few different sites before you decide to buy, as for renting there are quite a few places to advertise eg, local paper, local shops or there are websites you can advertise on check out the one on here and see what you think , dont be afraid to ask!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Our sister website GoCaravanRentals.com (http://www.gocaravanrentals.com/add.php) generates 100's if not thousands of leads for our owners but as with most things you need to do your homework and make sure that your competitively priced your the standard of your van and the price that other owners and the park offers.
Try to come up a USP and cover the basics of making sure you offer a welcome pack (tea, coffee, bread, milk, leaflets for nearby attractions etc etc), a handover service and books, mags, games etc in the van for if it rains.
These help you stand out from any vans the park offers and owners who can't be bothered to be honest.
Good luck with it, you've found the best place to get advice,
Try searching through some older threads as they may be of use,
Darren

We changed from a tourer to a static, and much as I enjoyed the tourer, to arrive on site, unlock the door and put the kettle on is so much nicer than having to set up the van and the awning with a car full of kids chomping at the bit!!
It's early days yet, so whether we will get bored with visiting the same site all the time I don't know, but other owners on other parks do offer holiday swaps too!

hi and welcome to the site
we was in the same boat as you we had been touring for yrs and we decided it was time to look at buying a static van:D
we have 5 boys and with pulling a van and them chomping at the bit in the car made touring really difficult:confused:
we decided ingoldmells would be best as it is only 1 and a half to 2 hours away from us
we than went round all the sites there but we deciided the Chase was for us
there isnt anything on the site but everything is in with in 5 - 15 mins walk
away and the kids now love it :D the only thing they didnt like was us closing it down for the winter
good luck in your search and take your time and dont be rushed into anything

Thanks all for your replies... I have no intention of jumping in.. although sometimes it is easy to get carried away when your standing inside a van that is just gorgeous...
The only concern I have is meeting the fee's.. I worry I might not get anyone to let the van to...
The site I am interested in is pretty busy though.. ie pool, club house and shops. I guess im just getting the usual pre nerves.
I have researched loads and know about the pitfalls of giving your van back to haven for guaranteed rental incomes ;).. wont be doing that.. and I understand it may be better to buy from haven direct...
Anyway sunday is booked and I wont be taking any forms of id or cash :D

hi
go for it i have a van in south wales and one in france both of which i rent out succesfully throughout the year and have been doing for a number of years now
we rent through the offices who take a cut but it does make things a lot easier as they clean the van do changover days and vet the tenants, just make sure your van insurance covers you for letting, not that weve had to claim yet
go for it wew use a company for advertising even though the sites have their own advertising; ukcaravans 4hire.com is 40 per year but the bookings since we used them have gone through the roof so much so that we have had to turn people away even in the off peak periods
