hiya graham.never been to perran sands, because of the distance from m/ch.we own a van on a haven site in north wales.all i can say is if you buy a caravan on a haven site, you have to use it every weekend or rent it out to pay the bills.the cheapest plot on presthaven sands is £3.300.the rates are £300.insurance £300.then gas and electric about£310.our site opens 1st march-14 feb and we use the van till the last weekend possible.when you go onsite, ask them to write every price down.and dont forget,in november the site fees will increase.
good luck...and happy caravan searching.

We stayed ar Perran Sands last year, a nice spread out park with indoor & outdoor pool and childrens entertainment. Lots of slot machines. Beach is down a steep walk, perfect for kite flying etc. Newquay a short drive away. We rented a Haven Prestige 8 berth for £279 booked well in advance.
I think buying a van on any Haven site will have a much of a muchness in terms of pitch agreement and terms.
If you are going to sink £30,000 of hard earn cash in a van, there is a nifty way to own a caravan cheaply without risking large sums of money. Put the money into a Buy-to-let property and the rental income pays the mortgage, and the balance pays the finance and site fees on your caravan. At the end of the contract term, or 10 years, you still have your £30,000 capital plus any capital gain your Buy-to-let rental property has made. Just make sure the caravan finance agreement is regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974, that way, if the caravan park is in breach of contract (e.g. increases its fees or changes its terms without your consent) you can exit the finance agreement without penalty under Section 75. You repeat the cycle again with a brand new van when your current contract runs out.
