Hi, we have just bought our first caravan, its an Atlas FLorida. There is a totally useless shelf above the double bed which is great for dust collecting! I want to replace it with a useable cupboard but I can't seem to find any companies on the internet. Anybody replaced anything recently and have an websites or contact details please? Thanks.

the only problem i see with doing that is if the van is rented out peops may stand on the bed and break the bed, but if you don't then i don't see why you can't.

i know they can still stand on the bed to get to the shelf but there is more room to reach over to the shelf than there is trying to find something in the cupboard.

Thanks for the replies, I should have said that I was thinking of locking our own stuff in there leaving all the other fittings for use if we decide to continue to let. We only really let to people we know and dont leave our things there. It would have been useful to have such a cupboard to store in but on second thoughts I am not going to bother. going to leave it as it is for now. Thanks for the advice.

We store our stuff in plastic boxes under the bed, but it's only PJ's toiletreies etc. so nothing I'd be upset at loosing!

i am thinking of storing stuff under the bed too. I am looking for a lockable box. Can anyone recommend a cheap sturdy box that locks?:)

I figured by locking the box people may think there were valuables in it and it may disaper, how do you prove it was there in the first place. We just use a plastic see through box and as I say it's only toiletries, PJ's etc. nothing worth pinching and people can see that.

It may just be the scouser in me but that's my take!!

We have invested in a couple of see through plastic boxes one for under the double with like you say toiletries etc in and one under the storage which people shouldnt really be looking at under one of the twin beds. I have also just purchased one of the outdoor green storage boxes it was from B&Q think about 40 pounds. Its really big so has our outdoor toys in and I have also managed to put a couple of boxes with clothes, pjs etc in. Its got a hole for a padlock so everything is out of the way. We have also stored some tins and loos rolls and towels etc so dont have to think about stuff everytime we go up.

You need to check with your park, some sites don't allow plastic storage boxes!!

Yes it was but maybe they sold them off - it wasnt reduced at the time but may end of summer stock. Iwill have a look on the website. Argos had some too but I have a feeling I saw them in their flimsy sale leaflet, worth a look though.
