damp in caravan cupboards

Hi Everyone.
Has anyone got an answer to stop condensation in our wardrobes,Seems to be in the corners low down,
in both sides of the van,I have dried them out only to find that it in a day or two the condensation is back.

Have you tried the cheap de humidifiers you can buy from the £ shop you peel the top off and it draws moisture into the jelly crystals other than that are there any vents in or near the wardrobe that are blocked?

I heard today that in new Willerby's they are having real condesation problems in the bedrooms. Not sure if this is a ventilation issue but these are double glazed units.

Going to Withernsea today so i will look for the small dehumidifiers at the £ shop,in the mean time I am going to price a large electric dehumidifier as a more permanent way of ridding the problem,As I have since found out that this is a known problem with caravans.

The best priced value for money dehumidifier I could find is the Delonghi DEM10 Compact dehumidifier for £109.99 which extracts up to 10L in 24hrs. I found it on website cheapelectricals.co.uk for £30 cheaper than Argos (has 72 reviews praising the product) and free delivery.

I was going to buy the portable mini dehumidifier from http://www.mirrorreaderoffers.co.uk/...-dehumidifier/ at £34.99 so again cheaper than the equivilent at Argos but decided we'd need something bigger.

Otherwise search google for dehumidifier to get some of the cheaper chrystal packs for wardrobes etc they may work well in the interim. I think diy stores sell them too.

We've now been offered a dehumidifier so no longer need to buy one, but the Delonghi was my choice.

We have a de-humidifier, but we have found that by lining the inside walls of the wardrobes and cupboards with polystyrene foam sheet, the problem is greatly reduced. Running a dehumidifier for long periods will not do wonders for your electric bill.

It's available from all DIY outlets in various thicknesses,usually in 8'x4' sheets and is really easily cut to shape with a sharp non-serrated knife, and then simply a blob or two of adhesive say in each corner and the centre to hold it in place. I'd suggest you DON'T use No More Nails or similar mastic adhesives, as its difficult to remove once set if you want to get it off at a later date. Just a simple adhesive is enough. I'm talking PLAIN white polystyrene sheet here, NOT the foil covered insulating stuff, which will obviously attract condensation in itself.

The best solutions are usually the simplest, however, and take so advantage of any day when it's dry and windy to open the cupboard, and wardrobe windows and vents and let fresh air (free) get into all the nooks and crannies.
personally don't rate these dehumidifier crystal boxes for wardrobes. We tried them and found them a complete waste of money. Put quite simply, they don't do the job, and are only suitable for smaller cupboards.

Just been at the huge static caravan show at the SECC in Glasgow and the majority of new statics have central heating with a radiator in the wardrobes or a small frost protection electric tube heater.

Obviously been a problem!

Hi every one,I have fitted a 60watt tube heater in my (small)wardrobe and a 100 watt tube heater in my wifes double wardrobe,I then had them wired by an expert electrician for insurance reasons.This has stopped the damp completely and our clothes are dry and warm,the heaters are left on all the time,160 watt on business rate will cost very little.
Looking forward to having the windows open on drying days again.
