Default Thinking of getting new sofas

Hi everyone,
As the heading says, were thinking of getting a new L shaped sofa & chair next season, I know that many of you will have done this can I ask did you buy from the usual furniture retailers or from a caravan mobile home specialist furniture store.

For residential park homes (which are basically a static with better insulation) we go to any furniture supplier.
The biggest problem is getting the old furniture out and the new furniture in - if it is a room with french doors, no problem, otherwise make sure to measure the doorways (diagonal) very carefully, especially if you have to get through any internal doors, as caravan internal doors are often extremely narrow.

Several caravan owners here have done the same. But purely by my observation, they seem to mostly remove the big front window & go in & out that way with the new furniture.

We removed two sofas from our Willerby Sierra. It wasn’t difficult as they were mainly constructed from cheap chipboard, bits of wood and lots of staples. The most uncomfortable sofas ever created! Certainly no need to remove any windows. Two new sofas came from Nabru in Uxbridge - useful if you can visit, but all orders are done online. Delivery is possible in just a few days and there’s a wide range of styles and fabrics. Best of all the new sofas come flat packed in component parts and they have a great delivery and assembly service, which is well worth using. Highly recommended.

Not clear whether you want to replace fixed sofas or free standing ones. We needed to replace 2 big sofas at home but had huge access problems because of tiny side entrance which had had CH radiator fitted and new PVC door and frame after furniture came in. We explained problems to sales chap at Harveys and he said that they had sofas in sections (metal frames like car seats) that clip together and he said that if you could get through a doorway yourself, then they could get them in !! Still had my doubts............but it worked for us. 2X3 seater sofas with recliners. No hope of getting old ones out.......had to chop them up in room.
If you choose any household sofas, make sure you check the depth from front to back as they do tend to take more space up than special caravan sofas.

Was your existing furniture when built from new, fixed or freestanding?

If fixed, I personally would not remove unless the manufacturer of the caravan could 100% confirm it is ok to do so. Some caravans may rely on fixed furniture to help support the caravans structure as far as I'm aware.

Stumbled across this thread which is of interest to me. We purchased a Swift Provence ( Bordeaux ) this year. Beautiful van. But we are contemplating upgrading the 3 seater sofa bed and the 2 seater sofa. My is, is there anyone out there that can tell me what we could expect to sell these for. They are Brand New ( 4 week old ). With us using the van quiet a lot we would prefer home furniture from the likes of SCS or DFS
