Is smoking allowed in vans or is it just personal choice....

Sadly just personal choice, unless stipulated by the owner of a rental van. There again it doesn't stop people ignoring the ruling.

I haven't smoked for47 years. You know what they say about people who have stopped. Well, I'm one of them. Personally, I would ban it in all public areas. Inside or out. Anywhere there are non-smokers. That would suit me and I suspect a lot of other people. It's about time it was made law.

I'm sorry if I offend any smokers but I just can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke.

Even worse than the smoke is the way so many smokers automatically drop (or, even worse, flick away) the cigarette butts for someone else to sweep up.

I was on a cross channel ferry on Saturday with my family. My grandchildren wanted to go outside and stand in the fresh air. It was very blustery and we had to hold onto the rails.
Behind us were a bunch of people standing outside for a smoke.
When we returned to our seats inside, I was aware our clothes stank of smoke, in spite of us being about 20 feet from the smokers in a strong swirling wind !
It reminded me of how it was when Smoking was allowed in public places.
YUK !!

Personal preference or not it maybe worth checking your caravan insurance ???? I know mine does NOT mention smoking specifically but it does NOT allow burning candles !!! Also you should have smoke alarm in your caravan anyway ??

never thought about candles and insurance, ours though are for decoration only, being an ex smoker i hate the smell of smoke, but only having stopped some 5 years i know how hard it is for some, i had smoke alarms in my house, and garage where i used to smoke, i can't remember issues with the alarm and cigarette smoke, i think it is the heat of the smoke from the fire ( or sausages ooooops ) i would not smoke in our van even if i smoked still now, i think it would smell like a pub ashtray when arriving after it had been shut for a week or so, not nice for non smokers or guests i think.

I thought if you let vans then you weren't allowed to smoke inside but if you didn't it was your own choice

When we had our business in the UK we had a car park and now and again I would go out to find that some uncouth smoker had emptied their car ashtray onto the car park. Just too idle to take it home and empty it in their own bin. That was most annoying.

I think if a smoker had used the caravan then it would be harder to sell if need be as you can't get rid of the smell. No offence to any smoker but it does ruin decor and fabric.
