Default Replacing tap washers

Hi all
Just had a thought before new season starts.
Last year late in season I found the shower taps were getting a bit hard to turn off and decided to fit new washers I took the heads off and sprayed the joints with wd40 tried to loosen with a spanner no joy.
Then tried mole grips no joy but by this time the brass nuts were starting to round off a bit.
Told to use something called crack it freeze release spray leave for five minutes then remove this time I used stilsons and all it did was to further round off the brass nut.
So does anyone know of some tool that can grip and remove the brass body.
Any advice welcomed.
