Hi Stu1 the insurer we use won't give us flood insurance but as I said in another post the salmon leap/dam has been washed out so the danger of a flood has been greatly diminshed. Noel

Seems unfair to me!
Sorry if Im posting this too far back (but this thread gets lost after page one) - are site fees generally up to the park owner or set against the facilities on offer?

They are set by the site owner. The more facilities in general the higher the fees but they charge what people are prepared to pay.

i understand that the more facilities there are on site the more we have to pay but do you honestly believe that if 'the peasants revolt' then we can do something to bring them down? ( i wish mine were lower but i knew what they were when we were signing on the dotted line)

We let our customers know by letter at the start of November and send the bill in January with a February 12pay date. People need budget, so we give lots of notice and try and keep the increases reasonable.

Cheers

Andy

Our fees run Oct-Oct. They jumped 400 a couple of years ago when a new owner took over . He promised lots of park upgrades but none materialised. He bailed out mid season last year. Park now has new owners and maintained the 1795 fees for this season. Still a lot for hellish little though. Nevertheless, I wish them well and look forward to 1st March.

Our site fee for last year was 1980 and we ended up paying 2010 for this year. All we have on site is 2 small fishing pools launderette and childrens games room. Mind you that does suit us as we have the scenery and lovely views. Walking into the town is only 1 mile. I must admit sometimes I think would I have like the hussle & bustle of staying at a Pontins like place but hubby would never consider it as he loves to unwind in the peace & quiet.

Our site is a commercialised one with pool, shop, new family friendly club, what has an adults only lounge as well thank goodness! There is entertainment each weekend in the season which is very well organised, but for us thankfully we are far enough away from the activity to not be disturbed by it - but the boys can use the pool and beach whenever they like, and they're not too far away from us ;-) . Last halloween the site was full, owners put on a day/night of fancy dress competitions and fireworks, not my thing personally, but it was nice to see the 'site owners' seriously dressed up and joining in with the fun.
For us-it was the direct access to a flat safe endless beach that made us want to be a part of this site - that's why our fees are so high... (Just over 3k)
Each owner is given the choice to pay in full with a 200 reduction, or in two payments, or even on a monthly basis if preferred (25 admin charge). All caravans no matter what age are sought after to rent out.
We dont want to rent ours out, but the option is there should we ever change our minds ...

Ps I may have mentioned the beach once before lol

We had no facilities last year, small outdoor kiddies pool closed, putting green closed, small clubhouse closed, launderette closed, it was grim! Let's hope it upgrades again this year with the new owners.
