Default TV licence

Hi all, we get our static the weekend and generally it will only be us using it. From time to time family will be there.

On the TV licence website it says you don't have to have another licence if the residence are not using the TV at home and at the caravan at the same time.

Whats your opinion? Probably 2 weeks out of the year family will use the caravan and in theory we would have to have 2 licences. It just doesn't seem justified

would the person staying in the van not be covered as they have a tv licence but are not at home, if you see what I mean?

I have to say I don't know how this one works as no one but me has ever stayed in my van yet.

surely this would mean tv detector vans being on your caravan site and also at your home address at the same time. unlikely

Seems unlikely, they would have to have a detecting team near to your van and home at the same time to monitor two the televisions to prove it, if I understand how it works.
You would have to of really p****d them off for them to mount that sort of exercise or be the most unlucky guy in the world and with luck like that a TV licence fine would the least of your worries

I have filled the form out to say its us using the caravan whilst not using the one at home, so hopefully everything will be fine. Like you said I can't imagine detector vans being at both places at the same time!!

What form is this then I can't remember filling out a form.

If I ever buy a TV and they ask me for a postcode I always give them my home address and have never been given a form

Hmmm - just looked at this. I presume there's nothing they can do to you if you dont fill it in?

Obviously when I am at the van, I'm not at home so its not an issue. But I don't want them to have more info on me if I don't have to give it.

Thanks for raising this Rob.

Has anyone else filled in one of these forms?
xx
