Hi, not my first static but my first static in 30 years.
Am loving it.
We’ve spent all winter doing us up and making it look much more modern.
Have you any plans to do the same ...or was yours a turnkey van?

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome.
A very happy and friendly community.

It is a turn key van so hopefully no DIY needed at the moment.
Just needs lots of practical advice as to what we need to make it ours.

Have started the process!
Surprising what you think you MUST have!

Despite being new, have already decided we need a firmer mattress.
Don't think a mattress topper will do the trick.
Any advice appreciated.

Difficult to say without knowing what type of bed base you have, but if it's sprung you could consider a board under the mattress, something like thick plywood for instance? Previous owners of our van placed some under the seating cushions and did without doubt firm the seating up, too much for us so removed and it made it a lot softer to sit on.

Mattress is on a firm base.
It lifts up for under bed storage.
Nice mattress but bit too soft for us.
Think would like something like memory foam but not rock solid!!!!

Sorry, don't think this is the thread to ask the question.
Only meant to introduce myself.
Oops!

I'm sure you won't get banned

If it was me I would give the mattress a try first as you might find it ok, or at least nothing that needs sorting straight away

My advice is to buy the best mattress you can reasonably afford. You will ultimately spend a lot of time in bed and you need to be comfortable.

Any idea where to look. Think caravan mattress sizes are slightly different to household ones.
