Default GoStatic Supporting Members

There have been a number of times over the past couple of years when members have offered to make a donation as a thanks for running the forum and I have always declined and then it was suggested (by a few members) about having a membership upgrade.

I see this as a way of giving something back for those who want to donate to the forum and it is in no way a requirement and if nobody is interested that is perfectly fine.

We (mods) have been discussing it and have decided to call it GoStatic Supporting Members. The perks you will recieve are:

1. Albums
You can upload photos of your caravan and/or park only which can be viewed in album under your user profile.
A maximum of 50 photos can be added with a maximum file size for each photo of 97.5kb.

2. Private Messages
All full members are allowed to save up to 250 private messages instead of the 50 allowed for regular members.

3. VIP Only Board

All full members are granted access to a special VIP part of the forum that can only be viewed by full members.
4. New bold purple font for name

Your username will show up in a purple font to show the forum that you are a GoStatic supporter.

So the question is would you be interested in and if so how much would you be willing to pay per year?

To answer some of the emails I have got, as taken from below "The forum will still be free to use (apart from the advertise section as it is now) and by becoming a supporting member you will in know way gain any extra standing on the forum. If you break the rules you will be banned and if your posts arn't right they will be modded/deleted/moved etc. You will still have to go by the rules of the FUP."

I reckon if you pay a tenner a year you could easily save a multiple of that with basic advice given and possibly hundreds through specialist advice should you have the misfortune to need that!!

I have seen this on other forums and I am happy to make a donation to become a VIP member.

I have voted for 10, but I think this should be the minimum amount to donate per year, then if peeps feel they want to donate more they can do.

I think it's a great idea and have voted for 10, but would be willing to go with the flow if folks voted to pay more.

Another forum that I was had a two tier approach, members, that payed nothing and then the supporters that had various other stuff. Price was 20 per year IIRC. I do not mine paying as long as it is via paypal.

I think a 10 annual payment is fine as it helps the upkeep of the site, just as long as any info is freely available to all.

yes i am willing to contribute towards this wonderful forum... but......
if some do not want to I dont want it to develop into a 'tiered' forum......
i dont want people to feel left out..should they decide they dont want to contribute...

That is the problem I have been having with it and why it has taken a long time for me to introduce after people first started suggesting it. (Apart from the gallery- it will take more modding and bandwith so probably would have an extra cost anyway) those who don;t want to 'upgrade' won;t miss out on anything really. I have set it up to be a way of helping out the forum rather than a way of getting more out of the forum.

The forum will still be free to use (apart from the advertise section as it is now) and by becoming a supporting member you will in know way gain any extra standing on the forum. If you break the rules you will be banned and if your posts arn't right they will be modded/deleted/moved etc. You will still have to go by the rules of the FUP.

I've voted - I'm not really bothered about the gallery, etc, but I like the idea of being able to support the forum - I've found it so useful (and friendly) in the last year and it would be great to give something back.
