Default World Cup 2018 Russia

So away from all of the issues of Russia hosting it, which country do you make the favourites, who will be the stand out player and who will make a name for themselves?

It's impossible to look past Brazil/Germany but for me Spain are looking stronger and stronger and are probably under the radar a bit.

England are looking stronger than the last couple of tournaments but still lack quality going forward and belief at the back but the knock out stages are a possibility.

The top scorer/ stand out player (normally the same) always depends on the country the player is playing for so again the Germans and Brazilians have to be up their with Jesus a pick for me to step up after an injury hit season.

Neymar and Ronaldo will probably struggle with injury niggles/off the field issues whilst Messi will need his team mates to step up.

Germany to win.

England to get hammered by the Russians. That's the fans, not the team. Unfortunately, I can see that happening. Would I go? Not likely.

I think England will do well, especially if Kane and Rashford start the tournament with some goals and settle down quickly. As to wether England can get to the quarter finals or beyond might be a step too far, but I live in hope?

Probable winner.....Spain.

I have voted for Brazil to win, but Germany a very close second.
A lot safer to watch on the TV

I’m thinking England might just scrape out of the group stages, if they get a good ( confidence boosting ) win in the 1st game.
As to the eventual winners, I wouldn’t like to guess but I think there may be more surprises than usual as to which teams are in the final stages. My thinking for this is based on the composition of the squads i.e. only 2 countries have totally home based squads England & Saudi Arabia. So those smaller countries are turning up with more experienced squads than ever before.
Let’s just hope all the news about the tournament comes from on the pitches and not from “the streets”.

Remember the last big tournament? The Russian yobs attacked the English without provocation. With the Skripal Poisoning and the attack on Syria after the gassing, I think it's a foregone conclusion.

You can't rule out Belgium. They have one of the best squads in the World. They just have to play as a team.

Interesting to see Spain in 2nd place on the poll, maybe a few would change that after the last 24 hours?

A crazy decision by Real Madrid and the Spanish manager to go behind the Spanish FA's back and to make it public just days before the event.

It seems a crazy decision by both the last manager and Spain to sever his services the day before the tournament starts.

Fernando Hierro was a great player and Captain of Spain, he also played for my team Bolton Wanderers, whether he has enough experience to manage Spains National team, I'm not sure. However, he will command respect from the team.

Didn't look like the Spanish players missed their manager, having just watched the match against Portugal
