Like many on Go Static I could relate to you many adventures we have had when tenting and caravanning but it would fill a book.

I've just tweeted this thread, and wondered if anyone else has any fond memories they'd like to share with us?

There are some lovely stories in this thread...

Unfortunately, Mum was a SNOB!!!!!!, so we stayed in guest houses and hotels when we went on holiday. No 'simple' pleasures for us. My earliest recollections of caravaning, were with my girl friend and her 3 sons. We married, and almost had a little girl (misfortune stepped in with blasted big clogs). Caravan (mother-in-Laws), Butlins and MIL's caravan, engagement, marriage, and still plenty of caravan memories. But caravanning with the kids, was sheer bliss in itself.

At least she couldn't take them away from me ........

When I was sixteen, in 1970,a friend of mine's parents had a caravan on Green Acres outside Porthmadog.
I spent the odd weekend there, the thing that sticks in my mind was that the lighting was by gas - complete with mantles etc

Once in the seventies we hired a caravan for a week & after returning from the pub one night I dropped the key whilst trying to open the door, after searching around for an hour I eventually found it in the turn-up of my of my bell-bottom trousers...Happy days of a fashion victim
