Default Insurance shock horror !!

After having read a number of posts on the subject on here, I decided that out of interest I would get some quotes from a leading insurance comparison site.
After spending quite a while pumping in all the relevant information they require in order to quote, they came up with :

Only Two Quotes, both from companies I have never heard of before and certainly none that have been mentioned on here.
One was for 250, and the next for 670 !!!!!!! Close or what ?
( I pay less for a 5 bedroomed detached house than the highest quote ) .

All the other companies who subscribe to this site were listed below these two, some showing "No quote returned" and many stating
"Cannot Quote On Irregular Sized Vans ". ( It's a new ABI 38x12 !).

The actual ABI model wasn't present on their drop down menu so I had to pick one of similar value to even get a quote.

Interesting exercise but I won't GO back to COMPARE later.
Probably just speak with the park.

Ours is 240 on a new van (retail 23,000). Its a bit more than the tourer ( 150) but then it costs more I suppose. Im happy enough with that, though its comparable with what we pay for a 4 bed semi which seems a bit strange. Though I suppose the risk of a holiday home being burgled or damaged by weather is greater than the house.

Does everyone pay for contents cover for stuff/possessions in their static, or is it generally covered by your home contents insurance ?
I am guessing it isn't and I am about to check with our home insurer.

We have just 500 contents which would cover the TV, microwave and bedding I suppose in a total loss.

the trouble with contents is we aren't covered very well if the van is unoccupied for 30 days so we decided to go for the lower amount of contents since we suspect they would " wiggle out" of paying anyway

Try Crosby with gs discount if you don't use your site's insurance...

Hi Rainbow, the sites can often get a block discount by everyone using the same company. Some sites insist on one particular company, others more flexible. Contents are insured separately I believe (in my case)
Make sure you're covered for flood AND storm, and also removal of debris, disconnection, re connection in the event of a total loss. (Don't assume you're covered for these extra costs)
I'd make sure you have legal cover too. Tech equipment, mobiles, fishing equipment, cameras etc usually need specifying.
Winter cover is another part that varies a great deal with dates and cover, worth reading ALL the small print as always.

All companies are different, just points to think about.
