Default Insurance renewal

As a new member having owned a static for one year I would be grateful if other members could advise me regarding my recent renewal with Leisuredays, Last year I paid 189 and my caravan was valued at 15000 which is what I had paid for it. This year I got the same renewal notice but when I rung they said that the site, whom I had bought it from had told them it had to be insured at 26625 so of course the amount to pay had gone up to 293. Is it normal for the site to dictate how much your insurance is especially as they will be getting commission .

I look forward to your replies and hope I can learn from your site the good and the bad of Park life. Previously we have had touring caravans for over 30 years and toured the country whilst showing our dogs.

Regards,
Cynthia

the park wants higher cover than the value of the van in case they have to clear and repair the pitch.

Thank you for your comments and welcome to the site. I understand it is new for old and for clearing the pitch but I was not given the option as to the type I wanted as you can with touring vans, do most sites do this ?

Regards,
Cynthia

i think most parks want full cover, but if you can get the required cover for less then they should allow you to take it up.in the event of a claim though a park will assist you if you have their insurance cover.

Mines the same except I have 10,000 recover and clean up in with the cost. my cover is new for old and valued at 35,000 for a premium of 342 a year which is slightly more than we were paying for the tourer. We are with the Caravan & Camping Club with their club care insurance.

Forgot to say we have 5000 contents cover, public liability 2.5 million, personal accident 30,000 cover, Loss of use 3.500 cover, Key protection cover, and Legal expenses cover.
