Hello,
I wonder can anyone help me, I'm just about to move into a static that is sited on grass and I can't seem to get insurance. Does anyone know of an insurer I can use.
Thanks

Can you try a tourer insurer as tourers set up on grass?

Hello and welcome Shazzane. Are you going to live in the static or is it just for holiday use?

If the house belongs to your family the best suggestion is to approach the insurers of the house. They might be able to extend the scope of the cover to include the caravan. If you have no personal connection to the house owners I think you will have difficulty finding an insurer. I suggest that you visit a local insurance broker in person and have a face-to-face discussion, not internet or phone call. Explain what you are looking for and the problem you have met. They can make approaches to all companies they deal with for various types of insurance and can sometimes come up with the unexpected amongst the older, less specialist companies. They may find a company willing to insure the van but with special terms and a higher claims excess.

The companies that appear in on-line searches seem to be very rigid. A few years ago I tried to get alternative quotes for our static. They wouldn't quote because our van isn't chained down and doesn't have skirting all around it. It doesn't need it. Its on an excellent holiday park, stands on a large sheltered plot, on a concrete base and has a stone wall on 3 sides. I couldn't tick all THEIR boxes so no quote despite follow up phone calls.

Default Thank you

Thank you all for your help and advice especially Bluebells. It does look as though I can't get insurance at all but an insurance broker is trying to get some of my contents covered on the house insurance which is owned by my parents.
