Default Is it cheeper to shop anywhere else.

Hi guys

pay day today and just done a 300 worth of shopping some from asda and the rest from farmfoods and as everyone knows you don't get as much for 300 these days, so i said to the missus i bet it would be a lot cheeper if we had shopped at either aldi and or lidls, i know the food doesn't taste as nice in some cases but i think it would be a lot cheeper, what do you think.

No street cred for aldi shopping bags but the items i buy from aldi are just as nice and sometimes better than asda

i also think we need to watch what we buy- wherever that may be..
no good just chucking stuff into the trolley and then getting home and thinking
" there's nowt here to make a meal"
i LOVE supermarket shopping...mainly Asda gal as have a discount card.... But you have to look elsewhere now and again...
Aldi are good for certain things but there cheap veg doesnt last a day and yes you might buy a lettuce for half it usually is in Asda but it is half the size!
Lidl is ok now and again too, maybe for top up shopping
i like Morrisons...love the market feel of the place..
i rarely go to tesco or Sainsburys and never to waitrose....

and a good tip........... if you only want bread and milk.... only take a Fiver with you................
cos when you are in the shop you will be tempted....
i have never done a monthly shop... wouldnt know where to start and i am sure a lot of stuff is thrown out and wasted this way...... i go a couple of times a week( take me mother for a ride out)..

I bet if you never went to the supermarket this week- any of you- you would manage with what you have actually got...we all have cupboards that are full and freezers that have stuff that need using up.. just take the fiver and get bread and milk and use what you have......................................

Just try buying one brand down on each item. You'll be amazed at how much difference it makes.

Lidl has the best range of fruit n veg & it's the cheapest & best quality of any supermarket, we've also never had any bad meat from them.
They use local produce too for those of you who try to support in this way.
We live off the freezer, buying meats when they are on offer & often discounted on top of that! We then freeze the meat & defrost on demand.
We vary from Tesco online to Asda online for some bulk items when offers are on, plus we wait for free delivery tokens.
We also use our local co op as they do have various offers on & Heron freezer centre.
Basically don't do all your shopping in one place as that's what the shop hopes you will do.
Would'nt dream of spending 300 per month on an average shop & we eat well.

Good advice carava. You can get some amazing bargains at Morrisons this way.I had 200g of cheese for 49p the other day.Cheese is cheese. The salt comes to the top nearing sell by,cut this off and you have fresh cheese.
