I for one would sooner have the modern statics and lodges. The fixtures and fittings are much better with added comfort.

I stayed at my sister's static around 1970. It was excellent at the time but a world away from the choice we have today. I suppose the progress is just a natural continuation of applying modern techniques and ideas.

I agree I remember staying in my aunt's caravan in early 1970s it had an open coal fire gas mantle lighting all the adults smoked it's a wonder we weren't all killed by carbon monoxide poisoning ?..? Deferent times indeed ! But we knew no different back then.

Got to say, Peter, your post had me laughing. Didn't we all smoke then and most had coal fires. I really can't remember if it was gas lighting but it possibly was.
