Bedroom Underlay
Looking for a bit of info off people with static caravans.
My Swift Burgundy only has underlay in the lounge.
As we found our bedrooms to be rather cold last year, I came to the conclusion they maybe better IF underlay was fitted below the carpets.
Has anybody actually got underlay in their bedrooms, IF so what are your thoughts on this issue? Do you think it's worth fitting, bearing in mind the bedrooms are not huge.
Presently our bedroom is empty, as I sold the bed! Another will be delivered for the new season.

Did you find the bedroom cold or the bedroom floor cold? What’s under the carpet at the moment? What heating do you have in that room?

I think underlay makes a lot of difference. The trouble is they seem to lay the carpet before they put the furniture in so its hard to add it without changing the carpet

I have gas filled double glazing, & CHeating radiator, & extra oil filled radiator to boost heating.
It was a brand new caravan, had heating & boiler on max heating was freezing last March!
Mind you it seems to of dried out.
Presently I presume the carpet is just on bare boards as there is no bounce just feels a cheap job.
So just wondered if statics are designed that way so the floor can breathe?
Fitted carpet seems to be stapled down, most of furniture screwed to walls, so a carpet fitter could easily pull it up & lay underlay.
Will try & get it done next week before new double bed delivered
Thanks everybody!

I know the swift burgundy is certainly not in the same league as the more expensive vans.
But is carpet underlay the norm for the better statics, or does it depend on the manufacturer.?
I know I spoke to a few immediate neighbours last year some said they had it others did not, and that applied to some better statics.
Would of thought the better insulation would hold what heat is in the room.

Mine is a willerby and I do not know if It's the same for all caravans ? But when the caravan Is made the carpet is fitted throughout before the internal walls and furniture are installed....IE walls are on top of carpet ! Means the carpet fitters have to cut all the o!d carpet out first !.

Oh crikey Peter.R that's more problems!
Can only remember from memory, as far as I am aware, mine is just fitted up to walls, but then there's a full wardrobe on other wall so no idea if carpet under that!
Typical, I don't know the answer.
But then probably not as Swift are mean by not putting underlay under bedroom carpets!

I haven't lifted our carpets in the bedrooms but from the feel of the carpets, I would say there is underlay underneath them. They feel warm and cosy, so I would recommend the use of underlay.
Because we have four grandchildren we went for laminate flooring in the hallway, lounge and kitchen areas. We set the heating to come on for before we arrive back in the van when we have been out and we have UGG lambskin with fleece slippers so it's fine but it is colder than the carpet. We need to buy a rug. We have bought a new fire and wardrobe during December so the rug will be the next item.
