Default Want to hire/rent a caravan for 6 to 12 weeks north west

I wondered if anyone could help. We are looking to hire/rent a caravan on a site or in a garden/land for 6 to 12 weeks as the sale of our house has fallen through and we have to move out on 2/9/15 or 3/9/15. We would like it to be situated within 15 miles of Wigan/Leigh/Culcheth/Warrington area. It is just until we can find a home to buy. We are a husband and wife who work full time and we have a very well behaved smallish dog who is 100% house trained and never barks.
Thank you

You won't find too many caravan parks within 15 miles of the area you mention. I'm from that area and I wouldn't buy a holiday home around there. You might have to look a bit further afield. There are sites in Southport, Martin Mere and I'm in the Ribble Valley. There are a number of sites around Preston and Clitheroe. The journey from these sites to Wigan/Warrington takes anything from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Remember people buy statics to have a break from home so we buy in Coastal or rural locations. Wigan/Warrington are urbanised for miles and do not cater for people having holidays. I believe Martin Mere does have rental caravans.

my thoughts on renting a van to someone in this position is that there would be no guarantee they would be in a position to move out in the specified time.

Plus I suspect you would want to pay residential rent, whereas holiday lets are more expensive. There is a park near us that rents out but they charge around 800 to 1000 per week. Only a fool would rent their holiday home for 100/150 per week. The risk of damage is too great. Why not go and see one of the numerous letting agents in Wigan and Leigh and look at a short term house rental? That's what my sister did after they sold their home. It gave them time to look for the house they wanted. It will be a lot cheaper and more convenient in the long run.
