Default Handrail Needed for Steel Square Tubular Steps & Decking

Hi All

The wooden handrails screwed onto my decking and steps are rotting and looking for a cheap and easy alternative replacement, what's fitted at the moment looks like the below timber which has been stained / varnished:

https://www.diy.com/departments/smoo...1370254_BQ.prd

Ideally I would prefer something like the below which could be cut and just clipped over the one inch square tubing, but struggling to find anything on my search, in the UK?

Any help / ideas or a supplier would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the post slattster and a nice try

Heard you can buy PVC Handrails that partially wrap around the top of 1 inch square tubing and stick on with double sided tape, but I've not seen anyone selling them

Thanks for this Gerry, though a little over-engineered for my needs

Something simple in plastic would be ideal, if I could find it

Thanks very much all for your posts.

@slattster: Gave that one from Amazon some consideration matey, but not sure whether the underside of the rail will fit over the tubing ok?

@Peter.R: Another good thought matey, but could create quite a lot of work trying to cut with the amount I'm going to need?

I would not have felt the need to cover the tube with anything as it would have IMO originally looked ok with just the tube painted, but where now wood has been screwed on I would end up being left with holes in the top and bottom of the tube after removing. Not bothered though about the bottom / underneath holes as they are hidden away, but the top holes will need covering.

So now thinking of something like the below, which could be glued / taped on, which would cover the top and front edge of the tubing. Might even look out for a one inch or 25mm plastic strip to cover the top only.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Equal-Angle.../dp/B00DFEB22I

Thanks again all and I'll hold off a bit before buying in case any other suggestions are posted

You could just get some car body filler and fill the holes might be cheaper than trying to find something to cover them and then a couple of coats of smooth hammerite should do the trick for now

Never thought of filling the holes and painting. Might consider this, just need to find a paint match. But if I do find something like I originally posted I'll probably go with that option.

Cheers matey
