Thank you Gill! He is not a shy cat so if you met him in real life there's no way you'd overlook him!

And so he shouldn't be overlooked, bless him. We have 3 dogs and there's no way anyone visiting would be able to overlook them either. They're as much part of the family as the kids are although the kids would say they are treated better!

Hi Norma and Biggles, welcome to the forum.
I have a cast iron chimnea on my wooden decking, it is sat on a paving slab. I use it for heat and also as a bbq. It doesn't give out much light but it does give plenty of warmth. I don't move it, it just sits where it is all year round covered up. As it's cast iron it's stable enough and I've never had any issues.
I take my cat to the van when I go for longer then a weekend. He loves going out when it's dark and even though he's 15 now he came back with a dead baby rabbit as a present for me last year :-(

for the baby rabbit!

I wondered about a chiminea so many thanks Trish, I'll look into that, it sounds ideal.

I was really upset over the baby rabbit lol. The cat won't go out in the day, only when it's dark, but he's got the same at home now. I freaked when he tried to bring the present onto the van!!

This is similar to the chimnea I got, I think mine has a taller chimney. They are very heavy so if you can get it delivered to your van rather than home that would be much easier for you x
