Default Mobile Home Wanted (France)

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a mobile home in the south of France, preferably in Argeles sur Mer in the languedoc roussillon region, but would consider any regions in the south west and south east of France.

We have spent countless hours on the Internet, but sometimes information is outdated and lacking in detail as far as description goes. I'm just hoping that someone on the forum has any knowledge of sites, or indeed, owns a van in southern France that could help.

If possible, we would like a quiet site. We don't really need lots of entertainment, facilites, etc. which I think, generally pushes up the annual pith fees.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

David.

I have moved your thread and so you will get a better response - Ildi

Hi DavidNW

Looks like TiaMaria is pointing you to my thread

If you take a look at the thread you will see I am far from an expert in buying Statics in France but I have learnt a few things - Many the hard way.

Feel free to message me or post any questions you may have about buying in France on the thread linked to above and I will assist in any way I can.

Good luck with buying over the water

Andy

Thanks to you both for your help. I did have a nice van down in Argeles many years ago. So hoping to get one back there.

Southern France right by the Spanish border. If I remember it was rather warmer than The Somme last time I was there

Correct! Argeles is about 10 miles south of Perpignan and is coastal. Three hundred days per year of sunshine is reckoned for the area.

My van was on a site called: Camping Le Texas. In 1986, it had a swimming pool and a small bar/restaurant, and that was it! Very nice and quiet though.

I lost my job and could not keep it going. Don't know what the site is like nowadays, but the weather was good even in early April.

We have a nice static near Cardigan at present and could have moved it to the Vendee. We made enquires and were told it would have been more cost effective than selling our van here and buying another in the Vendee. We never got round to actual figures, but the van would have been acceptable on the Vendee site - no problem we were told. Oh, had the van down there for 2 years.

Not sure about the Vendee as far as weather goes, but it would not be, on average, as warm as Argeles, so the Vendee might be a no, no for us.

Hi Dave and welcome

Good luck with your search for a van in France - you must keep us updated with all the details - others on here, who are thinking about moving to/buying in France will find it useful. In fact, looking at Ice Tiger's pitch, we may all be joining you lol.
