Default Off-site Static Caravan wanted in South Wales

Hi,

I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful double glazed van that will see us through next winter while working on a self build. Any info gratefully received!

Thanks

Matt

Hi Mattie,

Have you tried local static dealers or fleabay and other websites advertising statics for sale?

If you are not siting it on a Park, then you should be able to get something for a reasonable price.

I have had a look on fleabay and visited some local dealers but as a newbie I'm unsure of what to look for and what I should be paying. As stated I think double glazing is essential as it won't be short term and we don't want to freeze come the winter months.

I agree about double glazing. I suppose it depends on your budget and what sort of standard of van you want to live in whilst you are doing the new build, number of bedrooms you need, etc.

You might be able to get one really cheap that will need scrapping when you have finished with it or you might want to buy one that is a bit more expensive and sell it afterwards? I am sure I saw one dealer that was selling vans to live in whilst building a property that was offering to buy the van back for a certain price when you had finished with it.

I will try and think who it was.

Hi,

I'm sure you've found a caravan by now, but in case you haven't...

We have just done major building works and lived in our static caravan whilst we did it (April to December 2011). I can't recommend it highly enough, both from the point if view of cost-saving and also managing the build as we were always onsite for any questions.

Ours didn't have double glazing and to be honest I wouldn't worry about it. You just need to wipe the condensation off the windows on the v cold mornings and invest in some oil-filled radiators.

I know we're not nearby, but ours is now for sale if you are interested - transport costs seem fairly standard in my experience regardless of whether it is being moved 50 or 250 miles!

It is 39x12ft 3 beds so let me know if you are interested.

Thanks and good luck!
