Eddie Solo is right just another example of being ripped dont forget some site owners get a kick back for allowing contractors to do work on site.
Also if you have to take the van off site your decking is worth naff all.
If you sell back to site your 4k balcony is worth next to zilch.

If you buy a van for 35k and put a balcony on for 4k then spend 2k a year on site fees over ten years that works out to nearly 50k!!!! and that doesnt include gas electric so 5k a year for some breaks away we must be mad
As I fit pvc windows to caravans and also pvc decking then I would take issue with your figures, you can actually get 10 windows and 2 doors for around 2.5k, but then again the cost of decking depends on the size, but 3 - 4k for a pvc deck is either quite cheap or a very small deck. Most wrap around decks in pvc will cost in excess of 5k

I agree regarding the windows and doors, looking at around 2k for 2 doors and 8 windows on my van. Which is fair enough. I still cannot get my head around the costing for plastic decking, especially when you look at many sites offering it and it is made up from 60-80% recycled material, I know that it has to be extruded and the machines are expensive, but still a 4-5k deck price is worth 1500 if you're lucky when you're trying to sell it seperatly or worth hardly anything when sold with your van back to the site.

There is depreciation and then there is being ripped off. For sites that insist owners have to have upvc decking etc, which by the way do look rather nice, then large discounts or the ability to sell on and get a good price, dependant on condition of course, should be the norm.

I maybe tight in my outlook, but 3,4,5k for plastic or wooden decking is just stupid, getting a steel made frame and decking fabricated would be more fire retarded and cost a hell of a lot less, maybe not as nice to look at

Our decks are steel framed, are not made from recycled plastic, they are skinned with material that won't fade, and they are class 1 fire rated (certificates can be provided) hence the cost.

Dont forget guys, that when people in business they have costs that you as a individual dont have so when you build your own it will be cheaper.
Remember as a business they have public liability, product liability, and employee liability.
With these three alone you can then see where costs start to go.
Also Upvc and Vinyl , the prices are closely linked to the cost of crude oil.

The price of 3.5k for uvpc windows and doors i was talking about was to supply and fit for a house not a caravan!
I agree with eddie crazy prices being quoted on decking.
Site owner i know says he gets a kickback for everyone fitted (not saying all site owners get this) but as long as people are prepared to pay this nothing will change.
I think there must be loads of people who think decking prices are crazy but would have one if they were more reasonably priced

My wife has her own business so I know it can be expensive, however, you say that the upvc and vinyl are linked to cost of crude, that is so and I know that is expensive. But many sites I have seen are using recycled material in their products, especially in decking, normally a 40 to 60% ratio, and still this costing so much more.

I am sorry but I cannot see how anybody can justify spending 4-5k on plastic or wooded decking when if you see on re-sale values they are lucky if they can get 1500 back. Too much of an expense and especially if sites force their owners to go done this route.

All the comments about being "crazy" or "stupid" for paying 4k for decking. I am neither (wife may disagree on both counts), but thats what we paid for ours, we researched the costs, could afford it and are happy with what we got. I dont need to justify my purchase to anyone, its my money-if you dont like it sit on the grass and laugh at all the crazy stupid people sitting on their decks.
