Default Things you don't see anymore.

Lots of things in the Argos book made me realise what we are missing these days.
We can surely remind ourselves of the good and not so good things that are no longer available to us but bring back happy memories.
Do you remember your first skateboard.A metal roller skate and a copy of an Annual and you were off like Hell down the street.(Sore Knuckles if not careful)
And if you were rich you had a rollerskate with them black wheels.
What were the wheels made of?
Did any body make a Bogey?

I remember having boils that had to be squeezed to get the pus out. Very painful. Why does no one get them any more? Maybe it was due to the coal fires and fogs that did a number on the skin.
You don't see kids with Styes or Pikes on their eyes like we used to get at school
Kids playing games in the street.Remember playing Tors(marbles) on old cobbles?
Skipping ropes and all the different little rhymes.
Whip and tops.Coloured chalk to design your top.
There's a Million things we don't see anymore.Lets hear what you all have to say especially as we are from different parts of the country and so we have a lot of different customs.

Things I miss is my Raleigh Budgie bike I got when I was 5, loved it to bits, what I don't miss is the piles of white dog **** that used to be around in vast amounts when I was a kid. I also miss Cabana chocolate bars...coconut with cherry...loved them.

Here is a poem I wrote about a first love and a Cabana bar.

YESTERDAY GIRL

Auburn strands enclose
a waxen face, set with
freckled masked chocolate
eyes.
Gapped, toothy smiles
hide inner emotions
of a guiltless accord.
Casually we sought
flawless hands,
to share in a grown up
approach.
Children playing lovers,
not understanding-
just imitating.
Together,
tomorrow?
That’s a futuristic century,
not given credence.
The moment that mattered
was on her Grandma’s,
well washed back steps.
A Cabana bar halved
and a coconut and cherry
kiss.

I remember my Nanna donkey stoning the steps, washing our hands and face with cold water and sunlight soap, the smell of Firery Jack and Snofire (smelly ointment), Omo soap powder, Castle crisps, Chlorodine, Liquorice and Marshmallow cough medicine, Liquorice root eaten straight from the field (still with the dirt on)..............
