Default Things a newby should know

Thank you for adding me to this forum.

I have a small amount of money and wish to buy a low cost, live in all year round static.

Is it the same as buying a house?

Do I need a solicitor, are thee deeds etc?

What would be the purchase costs other than the static?

Thank you in advance

Hello peewhy , have a look in the park home section , the top topic at the moment has some info , do not buy on a holiday park and expect to be able to live in it all year round . Make sure you get one to residential specification otherwise itís going to be cold in winter. You will have the site fees , gas , electric , insurance.

Yes, you should use a specialist solicitor - ignore the estate agents who say you do not need one.
As limited funds indicate you will buy an old(er) Park home, a specialist surveyor before committing yourself is also a very good idea, especially for the chassis.
The purchase costs will be the actual purchase of the home (90% paid to the seller, 10% held back to pay to the Park owners) plus solicitor and survey.
Ongoing costs will be the pitch fee, insurance, council tax, utilities (gas/electric/water/sewerage) and maintenance.
The Park home version of the title deeds will be the combination of the receipt for the money you pay for the home itself, the Written Statement confirming the right for that particular home to remain on that particular pitch, and the assignment form that transfers the Written Statement from the seller to you, the buyer.

to the forum.
I hope you manage to make it work out for you but do your research before you spend your money as it could turn out to be an very expensive mistake.Havinga static caravan, or park home is not a cheap alternative to bricks & mortar.
