Default Carpet cleaning

The living room carpet in our caravan could do with a clean/freshen up.
Can we use a normal Carpet washer (Vax) or do they need to be steam cleaned?

Just be careful not to leave the carpet damp at this time of year as there is not much ventilation and its still cold. We steam cleaned ours because we wanted to the upholstery at the same time.

I have thought the same myself but was worried a) about damp carpet and b) making whatever the floor is constructed out of damp as well.

I made do with Vanish carpet cleaning powder at the time but would be interested in hearing the replies on this one. x

I have a Vax that I use on the caravan lounge and corridor carpet a couple of times a year - I choose a day when the weather is dry, warm enough to have the doors and windows open, and enough of a breeze to make the air move inside the 'van (but not windy!!) - Vax the carpet as soon as I can in the morning, then sit out on the deck with a cuppa and my knitting until it's dry - it only takes 2 or 3 hours to dry to the point you can walk on it, and it's properly dry within the day when the weather is right.l

I use 1001 troubleshooter spray to spot clean - this stuff even removes red wine! For larger areas I will steam clean, I would also be very nervous about wetting the plywood floor too much personally, but we all do things our own way . There are some very good tips here regarding cleaning in warmer weather.

Mark, it was the cushiest job i ever had, and the free helicopter rides were numerous. Plenty of freebies going on that job.

Oooo Zumba, did you wear a uniform? I love to see men in uniform!

Weve got a VAX but Im not sure I'd risk it on the caravan carpets. Although saying that, I probably would if the carpets got too grubby
