Default Site Fees

Hi All
I have a van at Silecroft, Cumbria. This is our second year of ownership and our fees were paid in 3 installment November, February and March. However, this year when I contacted the site to pay first installment in November I was told that there are no installments this season and the whole site fees are due January 1st !! Bit of a shock after Christmas.......can they do this with no notice ??
Would like comments, thoughts.
thanks

I am sure there is nothing to stop them doing this but surely it's not a good way to run a business.
What happens if you can't pay in one hit?

Surely if site fees are due in installments and considering they are spread out nov, February and March then surely the first installment would have been due November 2013 followed by two payments in feb and March 2014 to cover this years fees.

Otherwise you would have been a year behind with site fees wouldn't you?

I think OP is saying they tried to pay the first installment in November & that is when they were told.
The fact that they are posting about it know rather than in November throw me at first.

This is the way I read it also.

You would have thought plenty of notice about this change would have been given? Bit of a shock if funds are tight.

Just as a further comment regarding Stows, Tony & Julie are quite correct on their statement regarding 12' vans, if you've got a 10' van then the site fee this year is 1370.00 plus VAT, which must make it one of the cheapest sites in the area. If your lucky enough to own a 12' + van, then the fee is 1850.00 plus VAT, although 2014 is the first year that the site has made accommodation for 12' + vans. The 2014 season is 21st March till 2nd November.
As Tony and Julie have said, there is no swimming pool/clubhouse/launderette/shop on site, although all of these facilities and all the entertainment you could require are available in close proximity to the site and certainly within walking distance or a very short bus ride away (couple of stops).
Being a private site, we are not allowed to sublet, however, it does mean that we are not prone to some of the horror stories voiced be some of the members regarding the rowdiness caused by a small minority of visiting holidaymakers. The site is quiet, relaxed, and you tend to have a wonderful friendly repartee with your neighbours and the other owners on the site. All in all, this is a great site to be on and well worth the site fees.
