A list of faults to think about for a 'Brand New' caravan.

1. Multiple dents in 3 out of four external sides, flared joints.
2. Tow bar severally bent and cannot be pushed in.
4. External Window frames marked/ stained.
5. External trims cut at the wrong angle leaving access points.
6. Guttering on both side look like a wave with high and low points in the wrong places.
7. Guttering not jointed and open to fresh air.
8. Bolts missing from chassis to floor connecting bracket.
9. Random hole cut into underside insulation, not patched or repaired.
10. External corner trim buckled and wavy.
11. External door handle marked
12. External led lighting hanging down.
13. Roof vent misaligned and looks unsightly.
14. External door- internal handle marked
15. Internal- Boiler cupboard door scratched
16. Internal- Fridge Freezer door - scratched
17. Internal- Lower kitchen cupboard door deep scratch.
18. Kitchen Sink- Leaks from glued over flow- new sink required
19. Oven Hob - overlay bracket to work top- bent
20. Oven control knob falls off
21. Kitchen Work top 100 mm high splash back hanging off the wall
22. Kitchen worktop 100 mm high splash back fitted in two un-matching sections (different batch numbers?)
23. Kitchen window frames beveled
24. Kitchen window frames marked
25. Kitchen window handles marked
26. Wall between kitchen window marked with glue
27. Kitchen roller blinds x 2 marked
28. Kitchen roller blinds x 2 do not operate correctly
29. Kitchen panel joint cover peeling off
30. Kitchen top cabinets - pelmet/ trim- cracked.
31. Microwave cabinet installed at wrong angle
32. Microwave installed into cabinet at further wrong angle
33. Trim above top kitchen cabinets not aligned
34. Wine rack installed at wrong angle
35. Boxed in section around extract hood poorly installed, terrible joints and angles.
36. Kitchen ceiling trims poorly installed with silicon smeared all over trims and joints.
37. Main door has gaps visible and does seal tight
38. Living room wall adjacent to patio has running glue mark down the wall hidden by net curtain
39. Living room net curtain marked.
40. Mark on wall above to cause by glue and chip wood dust.
41. Wall trim above TV has small dents in finish
42. TV back board has scratch
43. Mirror above TV has dent in frame
44. Back board behind TV is scratched
45. TV cabinet- pencil marks left on after building, finished joints have chip mark.
46. Carpet not fitted correctly around living room side board. Exposed floor.
47. Side board damaged at base....visible cracks and impact damage
48. Curtain pelmets poorly installed with rough joints and severe alignment issues
49. Living room- Gap left between wall panel joints- hidden by net curtain.
50: Shower cubicle cracked all down external right hand side and internally at shelf level.
51. Main bathroom wall has bubbled...

There is at least 30 more defects along the same lines as above..... I will continue the list later but does this seem acceptable for a brand new caravan?

I would note i have photographs of every single defect listed, plus the extra not listed.

That's a hefty list that mind. I'm sure some are quite minor and easily rectified but others not so. What make is the van?

Some and I mean only a few are simple fixes but the majority would mean large works scopes. Initially I was open for the repairs to be done but as the list grew over a period of two weeks I got to the point where enough was enough.

The old saying you can't polish a turd springs to mind.

Fortunately I was offered a refund but as yet I have not received it and the park representative is messing me around.

That's another subject which will have shared learning's off the back of it.

Swift Antibes 3 bedroom- The layout and style was exactly what we wanted. The supplied condition, quality of build and workmanship on this particular item is well below an acceptable standard.

I think some dealers think you just have to accept it, when you don't.

Ours was fine. Next door had to have a door rehung but they come in by crane and when you see them swinging about its easy to see why. Our other neighbours needed a knob on the cooker ( who knows where it went ) in general its not something people on our site seem to complain about.

After a load of hassle I eventually received a 98% refund based on a fair usage agreement.

Lucky escape and quite off putting to be honest. I don't think I will go back into Caravan ownership.

Glad it got sorted.....sounds like there are no checks by manufacturer ,or any pdi checks by site/dealer.......hope nobody comes on here in the future after buying your snag riden van....
