Default Carnaby Melrose 2012

12 x 37 2 bedrooms, sleeps 6. Pull-down bed in lounge a 3/4.
GCH/DG
2 toilets
1 large bathroom

We bought ours 3 weeks ago. There have been a few issues. These are :-

Lounge table a third covered in scratches
Cupboard and wardrobe doors misaligned a little
Loo door proud and so wldn't shut.
Wonky light fitting in master bedroom which we can't fix
About an inch sq of wall paper torn in hall which has been glued and come loose where they've patched it.
2 small gouges out of woodwork on bookshelf near dining area.
Master bedroom window wldn't close after opening.

We've never had a new van and are unsure how many of these issues are common, however, small they may seem, we were a little disappointed.

On the positive side, the van interior is fairly plush. The insulation under the floor makes the carpets feel quite squashy and gorgeous. The layout is very good too. The lounge is all the more cosy with the bookshelf separating the dining area and a small overlap hides the kitchen to a degree. Then the door separating the bedroom/bathrooms/hall/boiler area neatly tucks you in at night. The GCH is easy to use and extremely efficient. The brushed steel electric fire looks amazing when it's lit in the evening with it's hot pebble effect and it's very quick to heat the space.

Kitchen has few and quite small work surface areas and this nearly put us off buying it, however, we're managing with it. The oven/hob are separate which works really well. An enormous amount of storage space in the kitchen.

Having 2 loos is wonderful and the shower is amazingly large. This is complemented by excellent ventilation in the bathroom and so no steam filling the room while you stand under the lovely, powerful shower.

Beds v comfy and good space, tons of storage for hanging, folding etc. A computer desk in the spare room is quite useful for when the teens are up with us.

Excellent storage under the v comfy sofa areas. Good quality, lined curtains help to keep the sun out when we're not there.

Overall we're happy we bought it, lots of comfort and lushness. Just keep an eye out for the above faults if you're looking at one to buy

Hi raindrops, great review!
Have you taken up your niggles with the site? Were they happy to help rectify them?
Hope you get it sorted quickly

Was your van a demo/show van?if so your site should get the repairs done
When our Melrose30/12 arrived on park it had only just been built.Unbeknown to us the caravan dealer that Treetops deal with, did the delivery inspection and he had asked Carnaby to replace the dining chairs .Must admit it was very very nice to enter the van for the 1st time 2 minutes after it arrived on park, and know that no other customer had been in it.Whilst our van was being built the peeps at Carnaby were fantastic with their help and even put a Worcester boiler in for us.
We like you like the idea that you can shut off the bedrooms and the eleccy fire is fantastic at 2kw but we have only needed the 1kw setting .

They've contacted Carnaby under warranty for the table. They filled the little hole, looks like new, also hung and adjusted all the doors, sorted the window etc. All that's left is a wonky light we can't do anything about and the wallpaper hole that we haven't reported yet. They've been very good. Not sure if it was a show van, don't think so cos labels, cellaphane etc on everything and only just been pitched on it's spot.
