Default Drain down / Gas question

Hi as this is my first season (bought caravan end of last year) and have my first quests staying this Saturday getting a bit concerned. I paid for a full drain down and to be reconnected when site opens (4th March). We went down on Sunday where no water or gas. I turned on stop cock and had a leak under the caravan. After reporting first thing of this and no gas it took them some 5 hours and many calls / visits to get them out. They fixed the leak (just replaced push fit) but could get no gas into the van. As said this was reported Sunday. Yesterday (9th March) phoned up to see if had been fixed, where told they had forgot to get this looked into. So will try again today to see if done.

One I'm getting concerned for my quests if not fixed, but what exactly do they do on a drain down related to gas. We have piped gas so thought would be just turn it off at the meter.

Lastly if they have not fixed this by Saturday, where do I stand regarding this issue with the site.

hi
you dont have to drain down gas as it is a gas
boiler has to be drained down though
gases do not freeze
they probably havent turned the piped gas on

Hi thank you for your fast reply. Yes I said the same thing to them also, but the site guy said its getting to the meter box (as my neighbour has gas, share the same box). I said sounds like the valve is not opening. But not happy as still not fixed and getting concerned. May have to go down there to rush things, but as live 100 miles away costs me money in fuel.

Are you getting gas to the cooker? We had no probllems with cooker last year BUT.....

Last year we had pressure probs/airlock to boiler & they had to twiddle some dial & clear airlock in a valve below boiler, it took ages to get the heat on.

Just hoping it all goes smooth for us this year when we arrive Friday evening

Well, not impressed with the site. This is what happened, phoned up on Wednesday again and told yes all ok. I made a point of saying has everything been checked as we have our first people arraiving Saturday, told yes.

We decided to get down there early (some 2 hours drive) and checked gas. Cooker fine and fire fine but boiler would not light. After some hours managed to get hold of the engineer who had to take the boiler apart to fix. The pilot light would not light this was due to a blockage.

So this was not checked as told, but anyway our quests turned up and loved the place so we are now both happy.

Looking forward till our next quests. So far considering this is our first caravan and only started advertising end of Feb very happy with booklings.

We had a "Few" problems on arrival Friday afternoon, but they are now being resolved.
Site eventually put us into a fleet van & the Owners party Saturday evening more than made up for a bad start to the weekend.
