Default another key?

i went to get another key cut from the only key that i have for my van and he couldn't do it- something about union or something and they weren't allowed.. it sort of makes sense as if you let your van to anyone what is to stop them getting a spare key cut and squatting in your van...

so i can never have a key cut-ever?? what if i lose it? which i wont but what if i do?

Had the same problem with our Pemberton. The Key man said that we needed to get a special "blank". We contacted Pemberton who would only supply same to the site office. After a bit of a delay the key arrived and the spare was cut at Timpsons in the High Street. So sugest you contact you van Manufacturers fo a blank and go from there.

Hi tia. After my recent thread on spare keys im suprised what tony says was'nt mentioned then.I didnt know either that you couldnt get a spare key cut without an official blank.I suppose its good in one respect that it has to be sent to the site office but what about if your van isnt on an actual site?

Sorry you have lost me here, my wife just took our key to the local shop and got three extra keys cut there and then, a Willerby Lyndhurst 2003. Our son lives within 20 mins so he just calls in now and again to check up and our daughter lives in Portsmouth so she has her own key so they can go straight there when they come for a holiday;we do not sub let could this be the issue here. Hi noel.
I dont think subletting will make a difference tbh. After all,how could you prove to a key cutter if you sublet or not? What suprised me the most is the fact that two people, barry and darren i think, who replied to my thread about spare keys never mentioned this and they work within the caravan industry. This leads me to think that is what tony mentioned all that commonplace?

Ours have been cut at the locksmith. The first one we tried said you couldn't do it the second one said how many did we want.

I think that sums it up then maddy. All down to the qualms of the keycutter.

No what we said was that on a E key there are only 200 different keys , if you have the e number on your key i can send one in post tomorrow thats how easy it is to get hold of a key. The new locks i supply come with 3 keys , and have over 1 million keys ,also they are thumb turn from the inside so are the prefered ones by the fire officer as you need no key to open from inside in case of emergency.
